ATA News Update – November 2024
1. Games Day, this month, is this coming Wednesday 13thNovember.
We are trying NEW GAMES. On offer will be:
- Mexican Train Game, and
- Turkish Okey
Both are great fun! Come along and join us.
We will de renewing memberships and taking on new members etc as usual.
Venue: Alley Kitchen and Bar, Deniz Sokak, Catalkoy.
2. November Social Gathering has changed to a Cypriot Village tasting at the Black Olive, details below.

Membership clinics and Paying for Christmas Event
Please take the opportunity to renew memberships for 2025 and 2026.
We are running more membership clinics for the next few weeks and this week we are at:
Denizbank – No:30 Kat:1, Karaoǧlanoǧlu Caddesi, Girne on Wednesday between 10.30 and 12 noon
OLD BARN RESTAURANT & BAR No:25 Atatűrk Caddesi, Esentepe on Wednesday between 5.30 and 7.00pm
OLIVE PRESS BOWLS CLUB No:21 Hürriyet Sokak, Lapta on Saturday between 9.30 and 11.00am
BOĞAZ BÜFE Boğaz Harbour, Boğaz on Saturday between 11.30 and 1.00pm
If you are paying for the Christmas dinner and Quiz please bring £25 per person. We may not have change so try and bring the correct amount! Note: Membership needs to be up to date.
If you cannot make one of these please contact a committee member

ATA News Update – October 2024
1. Membership Clinic at Denizbank this Wednesday -16th October. Come in to join, renew your membership, get details of our events and look at the special deal that DenizBank has for our members – 50% off foreign transactions!
Look for our sign in the branch at Karaoglanoglu (opposite The Ship Inn).
2. Games Day is changing in November. We are trying NEW GAMES. On offer will be:

- Turkish Okey
Both are great fun! The date is the second Wednesday next month (13th November) as we are running Varosha trips on the first Wednesday.
Venue: Alley Kitchen and Bar as usual.
3. Art Exhibition and Workshop. ‘Another World is Forever Possible of Peace’ is taking place in the old Girne Belediye offices. The organisers have kindly agreed to donate profits to the ATA. Have a look at some of the TRNC leading Artists work.

Another brilliant ATA event.
Good celebrations,delicious food at Dillirga Restaurant amazing bunch of people old and new friends and participants. It was very good to see you all and get to know new people. Thank you all for coming and making it happen. You helped ATA raise 9000TL for good causes which is greatly appreciated

Karakum Special Needs School update
The goods have finally arrived from Turkiye to build the Sensory room at the school!
Chairs, soft toys, games, ladders, climbing frames and many more items have now been delivered.

This week on The Main Event I am with Levent Ozerdag and Richard Currie, Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Anglo Turkish Association.
The Anglo Turkish Association (ATA) of Northern Cyprus organizes various social events and trips to raise funds for and to support , many good causes locally mainly involving schools and disadvantaged children.
The ATA is a non-political and non-religious organisation and their membership comprises of like minded individuals of numerous Nationalities.
In the programme we talk about life , the Association and its work and of course we include some great music !

North Cyprus Big Charity Bingo players make donation to the ATA. Tonight, at the Roadhouse, Alsancak. The bingo players of North Cyprus Big Charity Bingo presented the ATA with a donation of 16,470TL & £550 to help the ATA to continue to support the numerous good causes it helps every week in Northern Cyprus. This is in addition to the numerous Christmas Presents and Gifts it recently gave to the children at the Çağlayan Children’s Home in Lefkoşa during the ATA’s refurbishment of the home. Not to mention the support the bingo players have given to the ATA’s initiative to supply English Learning Books to primary children across Northern Cyprus. On behalf of children in Northern Cyprus the ATA thanks the bingo players of North Cyprus Bingo Charity and the Roadhouse for their wonderful donations both tonight and previously.
