ATA Recycle update

Termination of ATA Bottle-top Recycling Scheme We have to regretfully announce that the recycling scheme is to be discontinued with immediate effect. The ATA has been collecting plastic bottle tops since 2014, which were then sold to a recycling company, and the proceeds were used to assist the Orthopaedic Disabled Association fund the purchase of new wheelchairs. At the height of the scheme the value of the bottle tops would fund 4 or more wheelchairs a year. This of course is in addition to the benefit that the TRNC received by recycling.Recent events including the closure of the business that recycled the bottle tops (ASM Recycling Ltd) and the inflationary costs of transporting the tops and the reduced value of the bottle tops simply means the scheme in now unviable. The ATA would like to thank all parties that have helped by either donating or collecting bottle tops in the past. Regretfully any existing bottle tops now and in future should be disposed in the normal way (i.e. to landfill). If circumstances change we will review whether we can reinstate the scheme or something similar.Email: mem.ata.trnc@gmail.comDon’t forget you can come to one of our many events and join/renew there!
